Survival Solidarity

August 24, 2010

After much reflection, contrary to what Survival Solidarity announced last month, it will continue to be used as a blog. Juxtaposed with it’s new sister blog Stronghold it fits nicely into the long-term strategy of decolonizing the many occupied territories of Arizona. After almost a month of questioning and reflecting, the relevance of both blogs was recognized.

Over the course of the next few weeks the blogs will be updated with posts recalling some of the happenings we’ve missed during this time of reflection.

As we swim through the past for inspiration our eyes open to numerous options for creatively challenging our settler privilege. While holding the notion of support, defense and attack to us closely we recognize we also hold the ability to challenge those that benefit most directly from this circle of colonialism.

In the act of decolonizing we hold no guilt! We are turning it into action! Our hands are filled with tools for dismantling.  Our bodies are turning the social war in on first us the settlers and then our oppressors and those that stand in the way of our liberation.  With hearts filled with dreams we anticipate many of them coming to fruition.

For now we bring you a new zine put together to help gather support for saving the San Francisco Peaks. To get a glimpse of the zines content you can look to the conclusion:

Within these texts a few calls for support are shared with it’s readers. We urge you to challenge yourself. Please do not let your location or hesitation stifle your ability to answer this call. Rather that be e-mailing the council or attending the meeting or using your creativity.

As the time-line shows Snowbowl has been occupying and desecrating the San Francisco Peaks far too long. To think that the compromising of the peaks sacredness would not pull the heart strings of many would be a cracked notion. To ask readers to hold in their emotions after pouring out all this information on you would be unfair. The August 30, court date rapidly approaches. Please do as your heart and mind guides you. Help hold the peaks sacred. Refuse to let Snowbowl take indigenous ways lightheartedly.
